I have arrived in Prague and have been here since Friday! Thank you for all your prayers. It has been a blessing to meet several people from the CISP and international Christian community. Yesterday my current roommates, Melodee and Kim, along with other friends Ben and Jake, showed me around Old Town Square, where there is a statue of Jan Hus, aka John Hus. He was a Bohemian (Czech) man in the 14th and 15th century whose and was burned at the stake for his "pre-reformation" teachings which emphasized the authority of Scripture and moral reform of clergy, among other things. He was burned at the stake for his beliefs, and his followers became known as the Moravian Church, which sent missionaries around the world and is still present today. Hus' writings influenced Martin Luther in the 16th century to value highly the study of Scripture.
Anyway, that is to say, here's a picture of myself, Kim (2nd/3rd grade teacher), Ben (highschool social studies) and Jan Hus :)
Here is Jan Hus and the Church of St. Nicholas. The building was built in 1735 but the church itself existed in 1273. Cool! This has been a Czech Hussite church since 1920.
In-service at the school starts tomorrow! I am excited and a little nervous to jump into this school year :)
